Furniture Reupholstery in Calgary

Reupholstery is a complete transformation of a piece of furniture - from selecting colour, texture, and feel of your new fabric to a total rebuild from the inside out. I can help bring your well-loved furniture back to its former condition or give it a new lease of life. I work with a wide range of beautiful fabrics, so whatever vision you have for your piece - I can make it happen.

What full reupholstery involves

With intention and an eye for detail, I aim to bring the piece back together to its original factory condition (or better)!

  • Stripping down — Damaged or old fabric sets and staples are removed, an item’s original design intent is tracked.

  • Frame check — Everything gets checked for structural integrity. Joints are regaled, frame repairs are made, new internals are created if necessary.

  • Springs and webbing — Springs are checked or replaced, old dried out webbing is replaced with the highest quality materials available.

  • New foam and padding — New high-quality foam (Calgary-manufactured) is installed.

  • Tailoring the fabric — Old fabric is used for for exact templates, the new fabric you have selected is pulled into its final form.

Sofas and loveseats. Two and three-seaters, sectionals, barrel sofas.

What I reupholster

Lounge and arm chairs. Teak-framed lounge chairs, wingbacks, tub and scoop chairs.

Dining chairs. Drop-in seats, seat-and-back, fully upholstered sets.

Ottomans, benches and headboards. Box cushions, window seats, buttoned headboards.

This is often the hardest choice, but I’m happy to help guide you through the process to select the best option for you. I carry a wide selection from some of the very best manufacturers, including Kvadrat, Maharam, Knoll, Camira, and Maxwell. You’re also more than welcome to supply your own fabric with no extra fee, but keep in mind that not all fabric is created equal and some fabrics are not suited for every job.

Fabric prices vary significantly, often ranging from $60–$180+ per yard. Natural fibres (wool, cotton, etc.) typically sit at the higher end, whereas synthetics (polyester, nylon, etc.) tend to be more cost-effective. Both types have their pros and cons. Of course, the larger the item, the more fabric you will need for your project. This is frequently an important deciding factor when it comes to the project’s overall budget.

Choosing Fabric

This timeline is always changing, but I will provide an estimate with every quote. It sometimes depends on the job, or if I am waiting on fabric for another customer—occasionally, I have enough time to fit you in early, so always reach out and ask! Even the seasons affect this, with the colder months being much busier than the warmer ones.
