How much does professional furniture reupholstery cost?
Because every piece is unique in style, scale and internal construction, there's no flat-rate price. Cost depends on the complexity of the piece, necessary frame repairs, spring tying, and the yardage and tier of fabric you select. I provide detailed estimates after reviewing photos and measurements.
Anywhere from a couple of days to about six weeks, depending on the work involved and fabric lead times. If you have a deadline, tell me up front.
What is the typical turnaround time?
Is it worth reupholstering, or should I just buy new?
Against flat-pack furniture, buying new is usually cheaper. Against something of the same build quality — a solid frame with proper joinery — reupholstery is very often better value, and you keep a frame that will outlast most things sold today.
Fabric & Materials
Yes, and plenty of people do. Although, not all fabrics are made equal. Not all fabrics will work for every job. Use the yardage table to work out how much to order, and add margin if the pattern needs matching. Happy to advise on suitability before you buy. I also do not mark up my fabric when I order from suppliers and can often find much better fabrics for great prices.
Can I supply my own fabric?
Can I replace just the worn-out foam and keep my existing fabric?
Technically, yes, especially for box cushions. If your current fabric covers are still in clean, structurally sound condition and feature zippers or accessible casings, you can swap out compressed inner foam for fresh high-density cushioning. However, if the old fabric is worn, faded, or stretched out, replacing the foam alone won't fix the surface wear, and a full recover is usually recommended.
Generally, reusing old fabric is not recommended. Once fabric has been stretched, stapled, and aged over an existing frame, it loses its tension and structural integrity. Furthermore, removing old covers usually involves pulling staples or destroying seams, making the old fabric unusable for a clean re-installation.

Do you work on modern furniture, or only vintage?
Both. Mid-century and Danish is where most of my work sits, but I take on furniture of all styles and eras.
What types of furniture do you specialise in?
Mid-century modern and Danish especially — teak lounge chairs, dining sets, barrel chairs. I also specialized in the ever popular R. Huber Scoop line of chairs and sofas.
Do you fix broken frames, springs or joints before recovering?
Yes — that's the part that matters most.
At this time, we do not provide pickup and delivery services. Clients are responsible for transporting their pieces to and from our workshop location for all estimates, consultations, and project completions.
