About Me
Hi, I’m Zach, and I run Loomi Upholstery here in Calgary, Alberta.
I’ve always been drawn to well-made things. Long before starting Loomi Upholstery, I was collecting vintage furniture — especially mid-century and Danish pieces — and learning what makes them timeless. The proportions, the materials, the craftsmanship, and the way a piece develops character over time are what make furniture worth keeping. I believe furniture built with intention deserves to be restored with the same level of care.
One of the reasons I got into upholstery was a desire to keep good furniture out of landfills. I’m passionate about rebuilding pieces that were made to last rather than replacing them unnecessarily. In a world where we often discard things too quickly, I believe there’s value in preserving quality work and reducing the environmental impact of disposable furniture culture.
My approach to upholstery is patient and detail-driven. Clean lines, properly aligned seams, balanced proportions, and thoughtful material choices matter to me. I’m not interested in rushed work or quick fixes — I care about doing things properly. Every piece that leaves my workshop reflects the same standard I would want for my own collection.
When I’m not working on furniture, I’m usually listening to music, riding my bike, hiking, cooking or spending time with my dog. I value craft, movement, and the quiet satisfaction of refining something until it feels right. Upholstery, for me, is about preserving character, honouring good design, and giving meaningful furniture another life.
